Taipei, Nov. 18 (CNA) Over 100 foreign and local academics in the field of sinology will attend an international conference on the heritage and innovation of Chinese culture research scheduled to open in Taipei Sunday.
The three-day event, titled "Chinese Culture, Past and Present," has been organized by National Central University in Chungli, Taoyuan County and the prestigious Yale and Princeton universities of the United States in commemoration of the late Frederick W. Mote -- an influential professor in East Asian research at Princeton.
Mote, who had been at Princeton for over three decades, cultivated many world-renowned sinologists including Peter K. Bol of Harvard University, Wang Fan-sen of the Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica, and Shih Shou-chien, former president of the National Palace Museum in Taipei, according to the organizers.
